In 2013 I opened my own studio in Como, in the building of the ancient monastery Santa Margherita.
I love my work, my family and friends, arts, books, the wild side of nature, people’s stories, travelling, music, fine food. Most of all, I love life. The older I get, the more I love it.
As a curious person I am interested in many things; I studied different items, lived in different places and did different jobs.
I was born in Göppingen, Germany and brought up near Ulm. In 1987 I moved to Como, with my Italian husband and our little daughter. Since 2007 we live in Faggeto Lario, a small village on the Lake, in a special place you cannot reach by car, which makes life less easy but much more romantic!
Having always been fond of languages and literature, after my arrival in Italy I took a Foreign Literature Course at the Università degli Studi of Milan. For more than 30 years I’ve been working as an interpreter and sworn translator of the Court of Como.
Since 1985 I am also really passionate about design and arts, so once my grown up daughter had left home, from 2007 to 2012 I went back to Germany to take a degree course at the National Institute for Ceramics Design of Höhr-Grenzhausen, achieving the qualification of a ceramics designer and trainer.
Follow Agnes Duerrschnabel through the narrow streets of Molina (a small village near Faggeto Lario) and within the ancient walls of her Atelier in Como and discover her body of work in this short movie by OfficinemaComo for Orticolario 2020.
Orticolario is the event that every year on Lake Como is a source of inspiration for all those who experience nature as a lifestyle and offers unique immersive experiences to garden, art and design enthusiasts.
